Edwin Van der Saar has tonight set another record by going 12 consecutive league games without conceding a goal. When Van der Saar passed the 1104 minute mark Setanta flashed the record up on screen.
On Tuesday he surpassed Peter Cechs record of 1025 minutes during the 2004/05 season to set the Premier league Record, which will keep rolling on until he concedes again.
However, Everton Goalkeeping Coach, Chris Woods set a record of his own in his playing days which he does not acknowledge Van der Saar's as coming close to breaking. Chris Woods went 1196 minutes without conceding for Rangers during 14 games between November 1986 and January 1987, however this was in successive games. Woods feels that as United have let in goals against Derby and Tottenham with Ben Foster in goal his record is more impressive. More so, as it was across league, Scottish cup and UEFA Cup fixtures.
