Q. Which former England football player was likened to Mary Poppins by one of the directors of his club?

Anonymous said...: I think that was the doughnut up at Newcastle - Mr Sheppard. He called all women in and around Newcastle some nasty names and Alan Shearer "the Mary Poppins of the North" to go with the Angel of the North.

By the way - the original Mary was Peter Houseman at Chelsea 1969-74 (I think about 5 years)- now sadly dead after a car accident.; 22 March 2009 at 10:56
