My thoughts are on whether Man Utd will sign Carlos Tevez on a permanent deal or if the price will be too high and where he may end up elsewhere in that case. With Ronaldo gone, and if Tevez does not return the prospect of a big name forward, such as David Villa or potential wing replacement Franck Ribery will bring fresh excitement to the club, and might bring sufficient new energy to re-capture the Champions League.

Liverpool pay 17m for Johnson - way over the odds - can't help wonder if Liverpool will be weaker in the new season - having to ship players like Arbeloa and Dossena to pay for Johnson, he's on a tight budget as it is, Rafa doesn't look like he can afford much more

I almost fell over and died when I heard that Johnson moved for £17m to Liverpool. Is this why Rafa insisted on greater control over the transfer budget when he got his new contract?
I think they got pushed up by City and Chelsea to be fair, but I don't think it's a good bit of business - I don't think Rafa has a lot more to spend
