Man Utd players dominate the PFA Players' Player of the Year Award with 5 of the 6 named players for the senior award.
The Nominees
Edwin van der Sar - Man Utd
Rio Ferdinand - Man Utd
Nemanja Vidic - Man Utd
Ryan Giggs - Man Utd
Christiano Ronaldo - Man Utd
Steven Gerrard - Liverpool
If this list had of been published 3 or 4 weeks ago I would have said that Nemanja Vidic would probably have won, now I am not so sure. In recent weeks, Steven Gerrard has been the best performer of the above - has he peaked at the right time?
The PFA Young Player of the Year nominees were also announced.
The Nominees
Ashley Young - Aston Villa
Gabriel Agbonlaghor - Aston Villa
Stephen Ireland - Man City
Jonny Evans - Man Utd
Rafael da Silva - Man Utd
Aaron Lennon - Tottenham
In my opinion it will be between the two Aston Villa players, but possibly Agbonlaghor will just shade it from Ashley Young.

Question -
How can 5 out of 6 nominations be from a club that has won ONLY the Milk Cup ?
They may well get knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday. They may well get knocked out of the Champions League before that on Wednesday !!
Ronaldo (P**f) was out for weeks at the start of the year and hasnt been half the player he was last year.
Giggs is an old man who plays in half of the games.
Ferdinand and Vidic are like Laurel & Hardy !!
Van der Sar m- more like Edwin Starr !!!
How can you not have Lampard in the nominations?
Better than Gerrard in the league, Champions League and playing for England !!
REMEMBER this is Player of the YEAR - not last year, not last month or last week - the Player of the Year 08-09.
This is beyond a joke, its a disgrace!!!
What a pathetic list - Ronaldo was the player of the year before he won it - not any more, a few moments of individual brilliance - on that basis I don't see why Torres isn't on there, he's scored 11 goals despite only playing 1300 minutes
Vidic is certainly worthy, and Rooney's been golden - yet he is omitted for Ferdinand, who's been out nearly half the season
Van der Sar has been upstaged by mark schwarzer for god's sake, and is now seriously under threat from Foster
Gerrard is an ever-present, and it surprises me that Lampard isn't on there too as he's been better this year - it's been a fairly lacklustre year for talent I admit but I'd be considering Cahill and Barry as well
How do they decide these things? whichever team is top?
