Bellamy for Spurs?

24 Dec 2008

Sky Sports are reporting here that Spurs in talks with West Ham over a deal for Craig Bellamy. It is thought West Ham are trying to recoup some of the cash spent out in transfer fee's and wages under Alan Curbishleys reign.

I wonder if Spurs fans will be happy to see Bellamy at the club, after all, he hasn't always had a possitive effect in the dressing room.

Super 6

Not that SKY SPORTS need any free advertising from this blog, but I wanted to highlight their Super 6 game. All you need to do is guess the scorelines on 6 selected games each week. It is free to enter, takes only a few minutes to get a sign in, and about one minute of time each week thereafter.

There is £100,000 on offer to anyone getting all 6 correct, with a smaller prize to the highest scorer with less than 6 each week.

So what are you waiting for?

Just FYI, here are my predictions for the Boxing Day fixture list.

Liverpool 2 Bolton 1
Manchester City 2 Hull 1
Middlesborough 1 Everton 0
Sunderland 2 Blackburn Rovers 2
Wigan 2 Newcastle 1
Ipswich 2 Birmingham 1

Breaking News - Cesc Fabregas Out For Four Months

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas will likely be out for four months with damage to his medial ligament.

The news is obviously a blow to Arsene Wenger and Arsenal fans. It also raises a number of questions.

Will William Gallas be asked to stand in as captain in his absence?

Can Arsenal achieve a top four place in the Premier League without their most influential player?

Will Arsene Wenger now spend some cash in January? Who is available? Or will Wengers youth policy supersede the need for a purchase and govern who will fill in?

Can Arsenal expect to progress past the first knockout phase of the Champions League against Roma?

And of course, in the event of Arsenal failing to qualify for the Champions League, will Fabregas be happy to stay at Arsenal next Season? - Especially as Real Madrid will inevitably launch their annual campaign to sign or unsettle the very best talents in the Premier League?

Diarra to Madrid

Real have confirmed that they have completed the deal for Lassana Diarra, subject to a medical.

It is a good deal for Diarra, but with a projected £18.5m/€20m price tag, is this a good deal for Real Madrid, or a better deal for Portsmouth? Could this now spark an exodus of players from Fratton Park that might cost them their Premier League Status come May?

The day today

It should be worth mentioning that today (Sunday 21st December 2008) was a big day in the history of British Football. Manchester United have scored a famous victory and been crowned Club Champions of the World. (well done lads!). The victory is not without a price, with Nemanja Vidic red carded and facing a Champions League Ban.

Late Goals saw Newcastle overcome Tottenham 2-1, and West Brom overcome Manchester City by the same scoreline.

Arsenal drew with Liverpool at home 1-1. Wenger was also disappointed to see Adebayor sent off and commented that he felt that cost them the win.

The biggest domestic result of the weekend however, was probably the 1-0 win for Aston Villa over West Ham. Terry Venables says that if Arsene Wenger thinks Arsenal are still in the title race, that Villa should stop thinking about finishing fourth, and set their sights on the title.

Welcome to the Football Banter Blog

Hello and welcome,

I have set up this blog really for the laugh that comes along with general football banter between mates. So I thought that this might be a good place for us to meet, online, and get some banter going.

Feel free to leave comments, and/or suggestions. The moderation will start on off. However, anything offensive or Libelous that is left in the comments field will be removed... if this gets too much, the security settings will be increased.

Please add to your 'favourites' so you can find your way back easily, and don't forget to check out the links to related Football Pages, I will add to these over time. Again, let me know if you want any links added.
